There's an idea called effortful learning, the gist of which is that your learning will be deeper and longer-lasting if it requires more work. (It will also take longer.)
Great write up! This is perfectly timed. Just last week Valerie asked me to learn this very song. I have been working on it, but this definitely going to help. The one thing that I struggle with is my capo. I don't know if it's too tight or what it is, but my acoustic sounds out of tune when I capo. Any recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks as always!
Did I say Capo IV?
🤦♂️ Should've been Capo V!
Terrific as usual. Hey! Tim heany is reading you. Nice. Love his book.
Yeah, Tom & I are longtime internet friends

which capo are you using?
Old kyser quick change one I've had for years
they're convenient, but tend to over-squeeze the strings, making them go sharp.
i prefer these: https://www.amazon.com/Shubb-Standard-GC-20A-Acoustic-Guitar/dp/B001FB5Z8K/ref=sr_1_2?crid=3ES677VFCSFNR&keywords=shubb%2Bcapo&qid=1691595404&sprefix=shubb%2Caps%2C295&sr=8-2&th=1
just got that capo in last night. This 100% was my problem. Thanks for the advice.
Thanks! I'll pick one up and see if that helps.
